Held over four weekend workshops throughout 2017, our course will have a home garden focus and a unique approach where you will develop a deeper understanding of Permaculture theory through engagement in ‘hands on’ practices on a working Permaculture Demonstration Site.Topics will be delivered using a creative facilitation approach, with supporting documentation from current working Permaculture applications. The topics we will cover follow the Mollison’s The Designers Manual with a particular focus on practical solutions.
The PDC will run over four weekends throughout 2017 and you can choose to participate in all four weekends and gain your Permaculture Design Course or you can decide to do certain workshop weekends that interest you.
An example of topics covered are Soils, Water, Trees and Earthworks and we go into more detail with “hands on” application of plant and animal systems, house design and retrofit, renewable energy, household and local economies and community networking. These topics will provide you with the skills and understanding to develop a detailed design for your particular setting.
We will be holding evening sessions where motivating films will be screened while we share the tasty nourishing meals from our Permaculture network.
Meet The Trainer
With a love for ‘the garden’, a great care for our earth, and heeding the call for meaningful connection and belonging in community, Dan has pursued a life of Permaculture, pushing the ‘wheelbarrow’ of school & community gardens, community art, landcare action programs and social enterprise initiatives to engage people in community driven cultural growth.
Inspired by fun, creative & participatory group processes and the effectiveness of learning by doing, Dan has been engaging culturally diverse groups in Permaculture with business partner Aaron Sorensen since 2003.
Together they developed the nationally awarded ‘Living Classroom Program, engaging young people from K to 12 in life long learning through a school Permaculture program.
Along with their annual 2 week intensive Spring PDC in the Illawarra and Brogo Permaculture’s annual autumn PDC in Bega, Dan and Aaron engage adults in ongoing training and mentoring programs throughout the year.
Dan leads a weekly class exploring the joy, art and insights of pioneers, past and present, to support people to grow nourishing wholefood gardens, and renew the tradition and benefits of growing food together in community
Dan and Aaron we’re awarded the Innaugral Permaculture Service Awards – Recognition of Community Service – at the 2016 Australian Permaculture Convergence, for significant contributions to community over at least ten years through their ‘Living Classroom’ School Permaculture Garden Program.
