Weekend 2 Establishing a Productive Garden

Course Overview

On Thursday afternoon The BIG House is open for those that are staying on site.
Lodgers have the opportunity to find their beds, settle in, grab a cup of tea, and relax before the evening gathering.
On Thursday evening we meet and greet together and set the scene for the weekend. We gather together and share some nourishment from the garden, share stories, perhaps sing songs, stargaze and socialise with fellow participants (“permies”) before the course commences.

Hand shaping the land to conserve & restore the earth’s surface that is the interface between soil, plants & life and the environment. Digging a swale & mound, carving contour paths, stabilizing slope & soils and more…earthworks to the rescue.
Illustrate with cross section drawings the influence buildings, aspect, landform, vegetation have on microclimate and the benefits for different plant systems.
